La Provence
Discover it from Marseille
With its gourmet art-de-vivre, its cultural diversity, its countless landscapes or its accent, Provence cannot be told, it must be experienced. There is the paradisiacal Provence, that of the creeks of Marseille such as En-vau, Port Pin, Sormiou or Morgiou. An iodized Provence, that you can enjoy with your feet in the sand near Cassis, under the majestic Cap Canaille. There is this inland Provence, between Aix-en-Provence and the Luberon, where the sweetness of life is told in the shade of a plane tree while cicadas sing accompanied by the murmur of a fresh water fountain.
A land of imagination and light, Provence is made up of several identities, sometimes at opposite ends of the spectrum. What variations between the high plateau of Valensole where the immense lavender fields grow and the limestone Alpilles of Baux de Provence! What contrasts between the opal and lunar horizons of the Camargue of Sainte-Marie and that of the Luberon, full of luxuriance and perched villages!
Through its diversity, Provence plays with the clichés that it rejects or sublimates through its heritage. Sometimes ancient like Arles, sometimes modern like the MuCEM, sometimes romantic like Aix-en-Provence, the land of Pagnol, Cézanne and Mistral is full of sites and monuments that cannot be ignored.
From a tapenade toast to a dip in the Mediterranean, from a game of pétanque to a visit to the Cézanne studio, there is only one step. Take it! With an accent, of course!
